Focus on your Strengths

When I think about being in my “sweet spot,” I think of being in the zone, focused, clear, and usually feeling the rush of being in the sweet spot.  Luckily, the situation that first comes to mind is coaching.  Coaching is also my passion and direction.  I often times feel the sweet spot when my team has matched my level of focus, and is demonstrating good skill and execution of our aims or goals.

One of my weaknesses as a coach is dealing with the teams social issues and conflicts.  I believe this is one of my weaknesses because I was able to get along with teammates and classmates very easily as a youth.

I really enjoyed Marcus’ message to focus on strengths.  To focus on the things that you do well, that are in your nature.  I agree with Marcus, I feel I have the more room to grow in my strengths rather than my weaknesses.  I hope everyone is able to continue to work on their strengths as well!

Hi Andrew,

I can relate to your post because I have had similar experiences in my past. Dealing with a teams social issues and conflicts is difficult for me especially as a young coach. As a youth, I also found it easy to get along with my coaches and teammates so I feel I need to work on this area as well. It is definitely not one of my "sweet spots."
Take care!

Andrew,

We share a similar strength when our players match our focus level and drive to reach certain goals. It's much more challenging to coach teams who are in a different mental state. However, those types of experiences will certainly improve us as coaches!

Looking forward to reading more posts!

Andrew,
I like the idea of keep working on your strengths. I agree with you in this area and with Marcus' message. I believe that recognizing our weaknesses is important but you always need to focus on what you are good at it. I will love to be soon in my sweet spot like you.. where I can coach full time my own college team. thank you for sharing your ideas.
